Afghan Girls Find Place To Play Soccer In US: In 2004, Awista Ayub, an Afghan immigrant to the U.S., formed the Afghan Youth Sports Exchange and brought eight Afghan girls to the U.S. to play soccer. Beckham Camp Closes But Still Taking Money: We reported in the last PSW that the David Beckham camp in California quietly closed their doors in December. Well, it seems that they closed them so quietly, that even camp registrants had no idea until they read a newspaper article about it this week. A Canadian U12 boys team has been fundraising all year, and their parents booked a week-long April vacation in southern California for the camp. Some of them registered in January, and their money and reservations were still accepted. An AEG spokesman said he wasn't sure why this happened, doesn't know where the money is going, and "some" of the camp registrants have been notified of the closure. Seem fishy? Yeah, we think so, too.
Thanks For Helping Us Reach 300 Fans On Facebook!: We just reached 300 fans on Facebook, but we still need more. If we get to 500 fans, we will throw a party somewhere in the metro DC region. Tell your friends and become a fan of PSW to get all the latest soccer news by clicking the link above. If Twitter is your preferred social networking tool, you can follow us there, too.
