U.S. Men's National Team head coach Bob Bradley has named 23 players to the training camp roster that will gather on Feb. 10 at U.S. Soccer's National Training Center at The Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif. The group, comprised entirely of domestic-based players, including D.C. United's GK Troy Perkins and midfielder Chris Pontius, will prepare for the USA's second match of 2010, a friendly against El Salvador on Feb. 24 in Tampa, Fla.

D.C. United released their 2010 season schedule on Wednesday. The Black-and-Red kick off the season on Saturday, March 27 when they travel to Kansas City, with their home opener at RFK on Saturday, April 3 as they host New England at 7:30pm.

D.C. United has signed 2009 MLS Rookie of the Year finalist Chris Pontius to a new contract. United originally selected the promising young star with the seventh overall pick of the 2009 MLS SuperDraft from the University of California, Santa Barbara. Per team and League policy, terms of the new agreement were not released.

The U.S. Under-17 Women's National Team defeated Germany by a 2-1 score in two games two days in a row, taking on the U-17 Germans on Monday and the U-16's on Tuesday. Midfielder Kaysie Clark had a goal in each game.

Alex Reed, a senior at South County Secondary School, signed a National Letter of Intent on February 3 to play soccer for Loyola University Maryland.

D.C. United's U-16 Academy side returned from the 2010 Gauteng Future Championships this week. The only North American representative in the twelve-team tournament, the Black-and-Red posted a 3-2 overall record, defeating clubs from France, India, and South Africa. In the team's final match, United defeated SAFA Johannesburg 4-2 on penalties.

The U.S. Men's National Team remained at the No. 14 spot in FIFA's world rankings released yesterday, which leads all CONCACAF countries. Mexico is ranked No. 17.

FIFA appointed 30 referees representing 28 countries for the 2010 World Cup. The list does not include any referees from the U.S.

There will be an additional sales phase of 2010 FIFA World Cup tickets for matches involving the U.S. MNT from Feb. 9 to April 7, 2010. Tickets will be available on a first-come, first-served basis for USA citizens and residents interested in sitting in USA fan sections.

D.C. United midfielder Danny Szetela has undergone a successful partial menisectomy, performed last night at Commonwealth Orthopaedics. Szetela will begin rehabilitating his right knee next week and is expected to miss the next six weeks of United's preseason training.

The Richmond Kickers' Ronnie Pascale, a three-time USL Second Division Goalkeeper of the Year, will return for his 11th season with the Kickers in 2010, pending USSF approval.

Fresh off winning the CONCACAF U-20 Women's Championships in Guatemala, U.S. head coach Jill Ellis is looking towards the 2010 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup in Germany in July. Ellis sat down to chat with ussoccer.com about the tournament, her goals for the preparation period and what kind of a team she wants to take to Germany.

City Islander's Steve Fisher, an original to the USL-2 franchise, has retired. Fisher scored many of City's most memorable goals, including the lone goal in the club's first win against a Major League Soccer opponent, a 1-0 U.S. Open Cup triumph over D.C. United on June 11, 2007.

Thunder Soccer Club is launching a men's outdoor soccer team in the National Premier Soccer league (NPSL). The 2010 team will play in the NPSL Northeast Region's Keystone Conference in the Premier Development League (PDL) level.

Leroi Wilson, the former Hampton Roads Mariners assistant coach, will take over the helm of the PDL Piranhas for the 2010 season, replacing Jon Hall. Hall, the 2007 PDL Coach of the Year, chose to step down from his position, citing the need to spend more time with his growing family.

The Hampton Roads Piranhas player-coach Wendy Kotwas-Waddell will return for her third season at the helm of the W-League Piranhas.

The Georgetown University men's soccer 2010 spring schedule has been released. The Hoyas will play six games, including five against college squads and one against a local professional team.

Standout high school student-athletes Diego McQuestion (Baltimore, Md./Gilman School) and Thurman Van Riper have signed to compete for the Loyola University Maryland men's soccer program beginning in the Fall of 2010.

The Maryland men's soccer team will be offering a free coaching clinic Sunday, Feb. 21 at the University's indoor practice bubble. The free clinic is open to all youth coaches and will run from 3-6 p.m.

William and Mary Tribe women's soccer has recruited five players for their 2010 class. The list boasts two locals players in Audrey Barry (Fairfax Station, Va./Robinson) and Ali Heck (Fairfax, Va./Robinson).

Update on the arrest of a local teacher and former All-Met Soccer Coach of the Year: Sean Lanigan was arraigned in court Monday and was released from the Adult Detention Center on Tuesday on $50,000 bond. He has a March 1 court date.

United States Soccer Federation (USSF) arbitrator has rejected the primary claims of US Club Soccer (USCS) and American Youth Soccer (AYSO) in the grievance they filed against US Youth Soccer and five of its State Associations.

Yingli Green Energy had become the first renewable energy company to sponsor the FIFA World Cup in South Africa from June 11 to July 11, 2010. Yingli Green Energy is also the first Chinese company to seal a global sponsorship deal with FIFA.

CONCACAF president Jack Warner visited Haiti on Monday and pledged to help Haiti rebuild the Haitian Football Federation offices after they were destroyed in last month's earthquake.

Demosphere International, Inc., vendor for most top soccer league web sites in the greater Washington, DC region, has announced a partnership with PlaySportsTV to offer online soccer training videos.
