The youth soccer community in the Washington, DC metropolitan has been shaken by the news that one of the areas best known youth coaches had been arrested. Forty three year old Sean Lanigan allegedly sexually assaulted a 12-year old student at Center Ridge Elementary School, in Fairfax, VA, where he is a physical education teacher.

D.C. United re-signed Major League Soccer's all-time goal-scoring leader Jaime Moreno. Moreno, despite spending the 2003 season with the MetroStars, has been with United since the inception of MLS in 1996. The Bolivian forward has played in 319 regular season matches in his United career.

> Women's Professional Soccer finalizes 2010 schedule dates
In 2010, the league will expand from a 20-game regular season schedule played in 2009 to a 24-game schedule in which each of the eight WPS teams will feature 12 home games and play the other seven teams in the league three or four times each. Opening weekend will include a full slate of four games on April 10-11, with the regular season running through Sunday, September 12.

The Navy men's soccer team had 11 members named to the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll. Three of Navy's players, sophomore Sam Miller and freshmen Eric Wootten and Connor McCubrey, had GPAs of 4.00 during the fall semester.

Premier AC's '97 Fusion team won a "Diski Dancing" viral dance video contest sponsored by South African Tourism, and will head to South Africa for an eight day trip where they will sightsee and play a top South African youth soccer team.

Former D.C. United striker Freddy Adu recorded an assist in his debut with Greek club Aris. Adu set up fellow American Eddie Johnson on a late goal during a 2-1 loss at Xanthi. Adu played 26 minutes, while Johnson played 20.

The Milwaukee Wave defeated the Baltimore Blast, 10-6, Saturday night at 1st Mariner Arena.  The Blast fall to 5-6 on the season while the Wave improve to 7-6.

Dolu Oyewole (Waldorf, Md./Freestate SA) is set to depart with US Club Soccer's 2010 id2 National Selection group on a European trip this weekend. The 18 players will play four games in the Netherlands and Germany.

Alex Herrera (Arlington, Va.), a former member of the U-17 U.S. Youth National Team, has enrolled at George Mason University for the spring semester. Herrera, a midfielder/defender, will play for Head Coach Greg Andrulis and the George Mason men's soccer team during the fall 2010 season.

The Ridley Athletic Complex will be home to both Loyola's men's and women's soccer and lacrosse teams. The 6,000-seat stadium is the centerpiece of a state-of-the-art sports complex that will be unveiled with a grand opening and dedication on March 13.

Former University of Virginia player Chris Tierney, now a midfielder for the New England Revolution, spent a month of his off season volunteering for HIV/AIDS outreach with Grassroots Soccer in South Africa.

Danny Karbassiyoon (Roanoke, Va.), Arsenal's scout for North America, sat down for a Q&A about his Arsenal playing days, scouting for Arsenal, and the Iranian national soccer team.

Virginia Soccer League has posted their final spring divisions.

D.C. United and its charitable arm, United for D.C., will partner with Walden Books Gaithersburg to distribute books and toys as part of the foundation's United Reads initiative. The distribution event will be held tomorrow at the Children's Health Center, where United Reads operates one of three Reading Corners.

Help Soccer Clubs With Haiti Relief: Several soccer clubs from around the Tidewater area have joined together to undertake a unified effort to raise relief supplies and providing cash donations to The Salvation Army. This Saturday, volunteers will be accepting requested items (click link for a list) at the Hampton Roads Soccer Complex in Virginia Beach for The Salvation Army, who will ensure that the items reach the children of Haiti. Cash donations can be made on site to The Salvation Army with all proceeds going to the Haitian relief effort. Donations will be accepted from 9am-5pm, and "Street Soccer" and "Juggling Competitions" will take place in conjunction with the event. U.S. Fans Being Priced Out of World Cup Trip: Many Americans who hold World Cup tickets are discovering they will be hard to actually use. Travel to South Africa has turned out to be prohibitively expensive, with fares doubling what they normally cost.

How Hard Should WPS Fight To Keep Marta?: With the LA Sol folding, the biggest question is what will happen with the world's best female soccer player, Marta. Some are questioning whether she will even stay with the league. With the league struggling to survive, does the Brazilian's drawing power among casual fans offset her huge contract? Reports are now saying it's possible she will end up with St. Louis Athletica or FC Gold Pride.

Exercises Can Help Combat And Prevent Girls' ACL Injuries: Studies have shown that girls are more likely to tear their ACL than boys. However, here are some preventative exercises that may reduce that risk and improve athletic performance at the same time.
