William and Mary Tribe athletic trainer Hollie Walusz was invited to work with the United States Women's National Soccer Team last month and will work with the team during its upcoming training camp.

Mount Airy resident and Mount St. Joseph High head coach Mike St. Martin has been named the 2009 High School Coach of the Year for Region IV by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) and Adidas.

Bethesda Soccer Club's Vikram Pothuri (AC Bethesda) made the 1994 Region I roster for a Costa Rica trip in February 6th-13th.

Each year, the Baltimore Beltway Soccer League and Baltimore Blast team up to host the BBSL All Star Game held at First Mariner Bank Arena.  This year's games featured many Baltimore Bays players.

---- Notes ----

The USA Bid Committee will announce this afternoon the final 18 cities that will be part of the bid to host the FIFA World Cup in 2018 or 2022.

Crystal Palace Baltimore has announced the appointment of Todd Wawrousek as Assistant Coach.

The Baltimore Blast dropped to 5-3 on the season after losing, 11-9, to the Milwaukee Wave Saturday night. The Wave has now beat the Blast twice in the last 10 days.

Former US MNT striker Eric Wynalda will serve as an assistant coach during the U.S. under-20 national team's tour in Mexico this month.

Togo Faces Tragedy, Then Disqualification From African Nations Cup: A deadly gun attack on the Togo team bus on Friday at the African Nations Cup killed their assistant coach and media officer, and seriously wounded their reserve goalkeeper Kodjovi Obilale. The team flew home on Sunday on orders from the government, but planned to return to compete (a point disputed by the Togo government).  However, no schedules would be changed, and tournament coordinators disqualified Togo.

Top 10 Reasons To Attend The NSCAA Convention: I was doing some research to come up with a top 10 list for why you should head a few hours north to attend the NSCAA Convention, and tripped over this great page on the NSCAA website that said it all for me. Check out these video messages recorded by soccer people you should know a lot better than me, then pack your bag and spend at least a day in Philly! See you there. If you're not a member, or worse, have never heard of the NSCAA, you should change that. Their semi-monthly print magazine "Soccer Journal" is worth the small annual membership fee alone, which is filled with articles on coaching, tactics, laws of the game, player health, interviews, and more.

New Commenting Feature on PSW Articles: This week we added a new feature to the bottom of all articles posted on Potomac Soccer Wire that allows our readers to comment on what they've read, or on what someone else has commented. Of course, like any new feature, it takes a few "early adopters" to get things going, so we I'd like to call on you now to do so. Please, if you read an article on our web site, drop your opinion - anonymous or not - at the end. More than a play to get more page views on our web site, this is actually a part of our overall mission to improve the sport of soccer by improving how soccer people communicate. Tell other readers what you think, you might be surprised what they learn.
