There's a slight chance U.S. MNT Head Coach Bob Bradley will have both Oguchi Onyewu and Charlie Davies back in time for the FIFA
World Cup this summer. It's a big "if", but the Sochaux striker and the
AC Milan defender are on the mend. Bradley expects Onyewu to be back in
training in March, which would allow him time to prepare for the World

University of Akron Assistant Dave Giffard has been named head men's

Loyola University Maryland men's soccer standout Tennant McVea has been selected to compete at the 2010 Major League Soccer Player Combine this weekend in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
Terry Akpua (Prince George's CC/Bowie, Md.) has been named to NSCAA Men's Division III Junior College All-America Team, First Team. Nana Bamfo, So. (Prince George's CC, Upper Marlboro, Md.) was named to the Second Team.
Salisbury freshman GK Melissa Orgera (Broadneck HS) was named second team All-Capital Athletic Conference.
Stevenson men's soccer standouts Vinny Caltabiano (Mount St. Joseph/Lothian) and Sean Scarselletta (Severna Park) were both named to the NSCAA Division III All-East Region team.
FC Virginia opened their inaugural Elite Clubs National League season with an overall 3-team record of 7 wins and 4 losses, with the u16 Cardinals bringing home 3rd place, and the u17 Explosion winning the shock championship of the whole event after beating JFA Academy of Japan - a team most coaches in attendance at the event said was the "best youth team they had ever seen."
Striker Evan Singlar, who plays with the Virginia Rush, has been named All-Area Boys Soccer Player of the Year.
Malcolm Harris and Michael Gamble of the Baltimore Bays Chelsea are among the 18 players selected to the Disney's Soccer Showcase All-Star Team, which will represent the U.S. against top international youth teams in Europe next summer.
The Potomac U.S. Soccer Development Academy Potomac team (made up of U-17/18 and U-15/16 players) won the U18/19 Predator Group Championship at the 2009 Disney Soccer Showcase.
The U15 AC Bethesda boys went undefeated in group play at the Disney Showcase. AC tied Lonestar SC 95 Red, beat Tennessee State Cup Champions, Brentwood 95 Premier, and beat Penns Forest (PA West).
Bethesda Soccer Club's Nicholas Corriveau is one of seven 1995 players in the country to be selected to US Soccer Residency Program for a chance to compete in the 2011 U17 World Cup in Mexico.

Freddy Adu could be headed to Greek side Aris Thessalonica (where fellow American Eddie Johnson was just transferred) in order to get playing time and improve his hopes of making the World Cup squad. Reports are saying he could sign a 1.5 year contract.

After four days of elite competition, the US Youth Soccer ODP Boys Super Group concluded with Region I and Region IV battling for both the 1993 and 1994 championships.
The US Youth Soccer National League Under-15, Under-16 and Under-17 Girls competing this weekend solidified their standings at Disney's Wide World of Sports Soccer Complex in Orlando, Fla.
Play concluded at the 2009 US Youth Soccer Olympic Development Program (US Youth Soccer ODP) Girls Winter Interregional at Freedom Ridge Park in Ridgeland, Miss. The 1990 and 1992 Girls competed in the three-day interregional.
Joseph Grimaldi, 83, a former soccer coach at the University of Maryland and Walter Johnson High School, died Dec. 18 at Holy Cross Hospital in Silver Spring, Md. He led the Walter Johnson soccer team to 11 county titles and five trips to the state finals, winning one championship and was elected ACC coach of the year in 1982.

Iran Soccer Official Resigns Over Email to Israel: Iranian media reports say one of the country's sports officials has resigned after his e-mailed New Year's greetings to FIFA members were mistakenly forwarded to Israel's soccer federation. Since Iran's Islamic rulers came to power in 1979, the country has not recognized Israel. Iranian athletes avoid playing Israeli competitors in international matches.
