The u15 CYA Firecats defeated Herndon Hotspur FCV, 2-1, in the VA State Cup final on Wednesday night in Herndon, VA. The match was played on a weeknight after several postponements, but that didn't keep well over 100 fans from attending - including CYA supporters in full face paint.
Former D.C. United standouts Raul Diaz Arce and Richie Williams will be honored by the Virginia-DC Soccer Hall of Fame. United play-by-play announcer Dave Johnson will also be recognized for his meritorious service at the event.
Congratulations to Coach Krieger on his induction to the VYSA Hall of Fame.
The Baltimore Blast's Lucio Gonzaga was named the MISL Offensive Player of the Month after recording a hat trick in his first game of the season.
Five Freedom Future players have been called into several National Team Camps, led by Christine Nairn, who was called into the Full WNT camp.
George Mason seniors Richard Edgar and Sean Kelley were named to the All-South Atlantic Region Team by the NSCAA. Edgar was named to the Second Team, while Kelley made the Third Team for the second time in his career.
AU senior Cooper Bryant and junior Mike Worden have been selected to the NSCAA Division I Mid-Atlantic All-Region Teams. Bryant was a Second Team pick, while Worden was named to the Third Team.
The Salisbury University men's soccer team finished out the season ranked No. 20 in the final NSCAA (National Soccer Coaches Association of America) Top 25 poll.
Five areas players earned NSCAA/adidas High School All-American honors. Congratulations to Winston Churchill Sr. Pamela Vranis, Chevy Chase Jr. Alex Doll, Robinson Jr. Audrey Barry, McDonogh So. Ashley Spivey, and Cox So. Emory Camper.

Landon Donovan, the 27-year-old international team-mate of Everton goalkeeper Tim Howard, has been earmarked by David Moyes as a possible addition to Everton's attack for next month and an initial approach has been made to Donovan's club, Los Angeles Galaxy, regarding a temporary switch to the Premier League.
Richmond Kickers Director of Soccer and Head Coach Leigh Cowlishaw is one of eight coaches invited to lead four teams of college soccer's best Division I seniors who will participate in the 2010 adidas MLS Player Combine, to be held in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. Jan. 8-12, 2010.
The MISL has announced that the Baltimore Blast game at the Monterrey La RaZa this Sunday has been moved from 6:05 p.m. to 1 p.m. Eastern Time.
The USASA National Cup Finals, the most prestigious adult soccer championship, will be held in Oakford, PA on July 30-August 1, 2010.
Chesterfield United FC has partnered with the Sports Center of Richmond to host a minor league indoor soccer team this winter at their facility. The minor league indoor team, Richmond United FC, will participate in the Premier Arena Soccer League (PASL).
A total of 96 teams participated in the ECNL Final Four Showcase, held Dec. 4-6, 2009, in College Station, Texas. The event also marked the introduction of the ECNL Player Identification Program.
A limited number of openings are available for U-13 through U-17 teams interested in joining the Northeast Regional League (boys) or Southeast Regional League (boys and girls). The deadline for applications is Dec. 15.
US Soccer has announced that nominations are now being accepted for the 2010 U.S. Soccer Werner Fricker Builder Award, honoring the late U.S. Soccer President Werner J. Fricker. Nomination deadline is January 1, 2010.
