Christopher Barnard (Richmond, Va.) was named the U.S. Soccer Development Academy Referee of the Week.
Howard freshman Phillip Borde was named the Atlantic Soccer Conference Rookie of the Year. Borde was also named to the ASC first-team and was joined by teammate Matt Marshall. GK Victor Thomas garnered second team honors and Howard placed four members on the ASC All-Academic team.
Loyola senior defender Tennant McVea was tabbed to the Top Drawer Soccer National Team of the Week after leading the Greyhounds to the 2009 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Championship and their third-straight berth in the NCAA College Cup.
VMI sophomore defender Ayao Sossou was named to the All-Big South Second Team, while junior Sonny Landry (Virginia Beach, Va.) earned All-Academic team honors.
British Tigers FC, a Washington DC based amateur men's team, won the Real Maryland FC Cup, defeating Agave FC 5-2 in the finals at Lester Stadium in Rockville, MD on Sunday, November 8th.
No. 7 Clarksburg (12-1-3) earned a trip to the state final with a 4-0 victory over fourth-ranked Northern in a Maryland 3A boys' soccer semifinal on Saturday night in Baltimore.
Whitman captured a 3-2 win over High Point in the Maryland 4A boys' soccer semifinals on Friday night at Blair High School. It is the Vikings' first trip to the state final since 2000.
Tuscarora won a 2-0 victory over Huntingtown in a Maryland 3A girls' soccer semifinal at the Community College of Baltimore County-Essex on Saturday to advance to the state final for the first time in five years.
Bethesda-Chevy Chase won the Maryland 4A girls' soccer semifinal game at Richard Montgomery High School on Friday night. They advance to the state final to face Urbana, who downed No. 9 South River 2-1 in the other 4A semifinal.

Major League Soccer Commissioner Don Garber touched on a number of subjects in a wide-ranging State of the League address on Monday afternoon, including the success of Seattle Sounders FC, the impact this year's rookie class had on the league, expansion and the ongoing collective bargaining agreement negotiations with the MLS Players Union.
The Baltimore Blast lost, 10-8, to the Rockford Rampage in overtime of the 2009-10 MISL season opener Friday night at 1st Mariner Arena. All-time leading scorer Denison Cabral led the team with two goals and newcomer Rod Dyachenko recorded two assists in his indoor soccer debut.
The Baltimore Blast has partnered with B2 Networks to broadcast all of the Blast's home games live via the Internet at www.B2TV.com.
Former Richmond Kickers midfielder Tim Brown earned a trip to the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa with New Zealand, downing Bahrain in the second leg of the their qualifying series 1-0 after a scoreless draw in the first leg on the road.
The 2009 U.S. Soccer Development Academy Winter Showcase and Nike International Friendlies are set for Dec. 4-8 at the Reach 11 Sports Complex in Phoenix, Ariz. All 154 teams representing 77 Development Academy clubs will participate in 234 games during the extended weekend, while six Under-17 international matches will highlight Friday, Saturday and Monday.
Real Maryland F.C. announced that Giuseppe Dorini will be joining the growing staff of the Monarchs Football Club. Coach Dorini will be coaching in the Super Y League and will be helping out on the local OBSL Travel Soccer as well.
Virginia Commonwealth University will not renew the contract of Men's Soccer Head Coach Tim O'Sullivan for next season. O'Sullivan spent 15 years on the Black & Gold sidelines, compiling a mark of 148-118-35.
