Two Freestate Shooters U19(G), Christine Nairn (Penn State) and Tiffany McCarty (Florida State) will be representing the U.S. Senior and U20 National Team, respectively this month. Christine Nairn will be on the roster with Senior National team on Monday, May 25th as they face Canada in a friendly to hopefully earn he first of many caps on the Senior National Team. Tiffany McCarty will be one of 24 players that U.S. U20 Women's National Team Head Coach Jillian Ellis has called into a training camp at the Home Depot Center in Carson, Ca from May 24-31 as early preparations for the 2010 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup Continue. The FC Fredericksburg Gunners got off to a great start to their third season on Saturday by scoring a late penalty kick and defeating the Cary Clarets 3-2 at Fredericksburg Academy.
Piranhas forward/midfielder Shaneka Gordon came off the bench in the second half and scored two goals in five minutes to give the W-League Piranhas a 2-0 win over the Northern Virginia Lady Majestics at Virginia Wesleyan College Saturday night.
Sunday afternoon saw FC Fredericksburg travel to Northern Virginia's Valley View Park to kick off both the men's and women's South Atlantic Division of the USL Super-20 League. The day would belong to Northern Virginia as the Majestics cruised to a 4-0 win before the Royals edged the Gunners 1-0 in the pair of shutouts.
Jefferson junior Sean Lee scored the game winner with about 30 minutes remaining in the Virginia AAA Liberty District final on Friday night, giving his team a 1-0 win over Stone Bridge for the district title.
West Springfield defeated South County, 1-0, to claim the Virginia AAA Patriot District title. Senior midfielder Jessie Gonzalez scored on a 45-yard lob shot in the 33rd minute to improve the No. 6 Spartans to 13-1-2.
After talented freshman Josie Seebeck walked off the field with a red card, McLean girls rallied against Woodson to win the Virginia AAA Liberty District final in a 2-1 double overtime victory. Sophomore midfielder Katie Yensen found sophomore midfielder Kristina Bettner for an 88th minute game-winner.
Chantilly girls' soccer won the Virginia AAA Concorde District championship 7-6 in penalty kicks against Robinson this weekend. It was Chantilly's first victory over Robinson (12-1-1) in more than three seasons and brought a 30 game unbeaten streak to an end for Robinson.
Yorktown senior captain Julia Magin ended a stalemate against Washington-Lee by burying her penalty kick to continue Yorktown's reign over the National District, 4-3, in penalty kicks.
Baltimore Bays Angels U10 Girls, Casa Mia U9, Premier (Stars U10), and United U10s each captured the Baltimore Beltway Spring League Title in their respective age groups.

The U.S. Under-23 Women's National Team tied the full Northern Ireland Women's National Team in Belfast on May 15 as neither team could score over the 90 minutes. The USA piled up a 15-3 shot advantage, but couldn't find a way past Northern Irish goalkeeper Tiarna McKenna.
Real Maryland FC is presenting Fiesta Real, A Spanish Cultural Fair, in conjunction with a day of football on May 31, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., at the Richard Montgomery High School. Their USL2 match against the Harrisburg City Islanders starts at 4 p.m.
With the National Indoor Soccer League in offseason mode, several of the 2009 NISL Champion Baltimore Blast players have left the Baltimore area to join their United Soccer League (USL) team for the summer outdoor season.
TSC Maryland Pride forwards Karyn Farrar and Lisa Zanti created numerous scoring opportunities, but were unable to find the net in their abbreviated 0-0 opening game draw against the Atlantic City Diablos on Saturday.
The U.S. Soccer Development Academy Spring Showcase is set for May 22-26 in Sarasota, FL. In addition to educational seminars and materials provided at the event, the U.S. Soccer staff is on hand at all games to provide direct feedback to participants to enhance their educational experience.
President Obama showed up at the Boys and Girls Club in Georgetown to watch his daughter Sasha play soccer on Saturday. Obama spent about half an hour at the game before leaving for the Palisades Recreation Center, where his older daughter, Malia, 10, was with her soccer team.

Manchester United Win Premiership: Manchester United secured the Premier League Championship one game to go in the season thanks to their 0-0 draw with Arsenal on Saturday. The title is United's third in a row, and 11th in the last 17 seasons under manager Alex Ferguson. The achievement ties the club with Liverpool at 18 on English league championships.
