Champions League Final Set: It has been an exciting, but controversial week in world soccer. We almost had a final with two of my favorite teams against each other, but one match wasn't even close, while the other provided a late shocker. For those of you who follow European Football, you don't need me to tell you what happened. For those that don't follow, check out this link and educate yourself on the greatest club soccer competition on the planet. One really encouraging sign is more and more "regular folk" seem to be aware at least of the Champions League matches. Thanks most likely to ESPN Sports Center coverage. But however it's getting there, soccer is creeping more and more into the U.S. sports culture, and that's a great thing whether you know what UEFA stands for or not.
Preventing Ankle Injuries In Soccer: From U.S. Soccer and Fifa, this is a great article for helping soccer players defend themselves against the dreaded ankle injury.
Stone Bridge Boys: Defending region champs, Stone Bridge boys soccer (8-1-1) remain a force in Northern Region, despite losing seven key starters from last year's team. Rich Sanders, Ashburn Connection, posted an interview with Bulldogs coach Randy May.
WISL Promoting Fan March: It's a story in today's headline, but wanted to credit Chip Terrill of the Washington International Soccer League for aggressively supporting and promoting tomorrow's fan march in Washington, D.C. If you care about keeping D.C. United in the region, there are thousands of others who agree with you, and hope you'll join them tomorrow in Lincoln Park before the DC v Toronto match.
