Everton To Sign American From PDL: In a real life story similar to the plot of "Goal: The Movie", Californian Anton Peterlin - who holds a Danish passport - has been offered a contract by the English Premier League side. The 22-year old, who plays for the Ventura County Fusion in USLs amateur division is planning to hook up with his new team this summer when the Toffees take on the MLS All-Stars in July.

Should MLS Mandate Use of Youth Players?: Phil Schoen writes in his GolTV Blog that MLS should focus more on getting promising youngsters on the field if the league wants to keep up with other leagues around the world doing a better job of developing domestic youth stars. After watching most every game of the recent U-17 CONCACAF Championships, Schoen is convinced a CONCACAF U-17 all-star team would dominate in Major League Soccer, and therefore concludes MLS should be signing - and playing these youngsters immediately.

OMG! What a Goal: Moreno leaves teammate speechless: Real simple OMG! What a goal today. Jaime Moreno's 2nd goal in United's 2-1 win over FC Dallas this past weekend was world-class. How world-class? Pause this video at the 2:18 mark and look on the left edge of the screen.

PSW Soccer Breakfast III Report: Our third PSW Soccer Breakfast (and kick around) took place Friday morning at the impressive Fredericksburg Field House. It was lightly attended, but once again not lacking in quality and insightful opinion. A legendary college coach, youth coaching directors, facilities operators, an adult league and tournament organizer, and several amateur players and youth coaches all spent a productive 90 minutes discussing soccer and sharing ideas before hacking each other on the beautiful indoor fields. The main themes again included youth player development and the Development Academy, but there was more discussion at this event than others about a few additional topics. Namely, college recruiting, what players can do to help their chances of playing in college, issues with fanatical youth parents, and the competition for field time between youth and adults were all kicked around in detail. Every attendee was also entered to win a pair of lower-bowl seats to the AC Milan v Chelsea match this summer in Baltimore! Hope to see you at our next breakfast. We'll be headed to Richmond, DC, Baltimore, and Northern VA in the near future - not necessarily in that order. Willing hosts and panelists should contact us at editor@potomacsoccerwire.com with interest in a future breakfast event. For those of you that say "if it was in a different place, at a different time, on a different day, I would have come", quit being a wimp. Get up early and help the soccer community by contributing your opinion!
