---- Notes ----

Tickets and hotel packages for the US MNT-Mexico game on Wednesday, February 11 in Columbus, Ohio are available from the Screaming Eagles before they go on sale to the general public.

---- Editor ----

First PSW Soccer Breakfast Thrilling Success: "Why have we not done these sooner" is all I can think about since Wednesday morning's 7 AM "PSW Soccer Breakfast" at the Panera Bread in Tyson's Corner. Though a turnout of just eight - including yours truly - may not seem like enough of an event to concern a Fire Marshal, it was the diversity and quality of the group that offered a glimpse of what could turn into an extremely valuable forum for helping to dramatically improve the area soccer community. We had a major youth club Chairman, a division I college and national team coach, a D.C. United fan club executive, an adult league board member, a world-class soccer writer, a PR executive and newspaper writer, and a professional youth coach on hand. The overwhelming theme, "yes" we need to improve communication throughout the soccer community, and "absolutely" the faster soccer becomes a real part of the American culture, the sooner the entire community will benefit. Got ideas on how to improve these areas or others? Come to the next breakfast and share!

Over-Competitiveness Of Club Soccer: Thanks to a reader for alerting us to this article out of Arizona from back in December. The five-pager from by John Dickerson of the Phoenix New Times takes a deep look at most of the issues everyone involved on travel soccer will have to deal with eventually. Over-competitive coaches, college scholarships, club vs high school play, parents hiring Private Investigators, favoritism towards wealthy players over poor. Like to think this doesn't go on here, but does it? How far over the line have you seen coaches and/or parents go in the name of winning? Read the article and discuss here in our forums.

OMG! What a Move: We mentioned in Tuesday's issue that Freddy Adu had just received a rare start for Monaco on Tuesday, but had not seen the video of the skill he used to earn the PK. Nothing we haven't seen before from the young man, but worth a look. Please try this at home kids!

OMG! What a Goal(s) - 2008 Best Of: Not my compilation - as if I would have had the time - I'll mooch off this well researched and highly entertaining presentation of the best goals of 2008 from around the world. Should be REQUIRED soccer watching for all youth players in need of a dream.
