Claire Zimmeck, a senior at William and Mary and a native of Fairfax, Va., is a semifinalist for the Women's 2008 Hermann Trophy.
ACC Defensive Player of the Year and Virginia senior defender Nikki Krzysik was one of 15 players named as a semifinalist for the Women's 2008 Hermann Trophy.
The Fredericksburg Gunner's U-15 boys' team started only two years ago, yet they came within one win of the National Semi-final in Tampa with a record of 2-1-1 against solid competition.
The Advanced U-14 Girls Virginia Rush Ice Monsters, with guest players from the Rush Thunderstorm and Wildcats, were division Champions at the Midlothian Megablast, held on November 22-23, 2008.

Major League Soccer's 14th season begins with "First Kick" the weekend of March 19-22, 2009, when 14 teams kickoff the 2009 MLS regular season. D.C. United takes the field for the first game of the regular season on March 22 against the Los Angeles Galaxy in L.A.
Steven Goff reports in his blog that there is news out of Honduras that Catrachos midfielder-forward Walter Martinez is in talks with D.C. United. The club declined to comment.
Richmond Kickers Indoor of the Premier Arena Soccer League (PASL) has teamed up with Connor's Heroes to host Kick Out Cancer, a charity event showcasing local youth coaches on Saturday, December 20th. The event will be held 5:00pm-8:00 pm at SCOR, Sports Center of Richmond.
The 2008-09 PASL Mid-Atlantic Division schedule was recently announced, pitting Richmond Kickers Indoor against the Winchester Impact on Saturday for the Kickers inaugural regular season home opener.
The Virginia Legacy is competing for the second year in the PASL-Premier and has announced its final roster for the 2008/2009 indoor team. The Legacy's first game is home, December 13th @ 7:30pm against Winchester.
The Academy Richmond Strikers U15/16 and U17/18 teams are competing at the annual Development Academy Winter Showcase this weekend at the Lancaster National Soccer Center in California. College coaches, MLS coaches, National coaching staff and scouts from foreign clubs will be in attendance.
"Survivor: Africa" winner Ethan Zohn finished his 550-mile soccer dribble from Boston to Washington, D.C., on World AIDS Day December 1st raising $150,000 for Grassroot Soccer United, which he helped found to fight AIDS and HIV in Africa. Ben Olsen and Washington Freedom's Rebecca Moros helped Zohn complete the final lap around the National Mall.
