Midfielder Alexandra Doll (Bethesda, Md./Bethesda SC) and Midfielder Ashley Spivey (Baltimore, Md./Baltimore Bays) are on the roster for the U-15 U.S. WNT at the 2008 US Youth Soccer ODP Girls Thanksgiving Interregional.
The Northern Virginia Majestics were recognized, along with three other USL teams, as 10+ Club members of the Hall of Fame by USL Executive Vice President and COO Tim Holt at the USL Hall of Fame and Awards Dinner Friday. The Richmond Kickers also received an award in the categories of Communications and Key Grip.
Loyola College of Maryland and Johns Hopkins University were the two schools from our region on a list of 58 institutions that had both their men's and women's soccer programs recognized as NSCAA College Team Academic Award Winners for 2008.
The Aegean Hawks solidified their claim as the top amateur team in the Washington DC Metro area with another season of accomplishments, running up a record of 14-0-1 on their way to capturing a sixth consecutive Washington Premier League title while also winning the inaugural Nations Capital Cup with a showcase final at RFK stadium on October 4th.
The Washington DC based amateur club, British Tigers F.C., have won the WISL Saturday First Division for the Fall 2008 season, their first WISL league championship since 2003. Joseph Ernest Howard, a graduate of New Kent High School and a midfielder on the Hampden-Sydney College soccer team, is one of four students recognized as an outstanding campus leader in the 2009 edition of Who's Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges.
Roanoke Star U11 Boys Elite and U14 Boys Elite won their divisions in the CASL Shootout November 15-16. The U13 Boys were Finalists.
Chesapeake United Tide U-10 Girls in B Division (5-0-1), a brand new team, are the regular season 2008 TASL Champions.
Kevin Ruzbacki, a Tuscarora High school boys' soccer standout, picked up this week's Frederick News Post Athlete of the Week award following a clutch performance in the Titans' Class 3A West Region semifinal win over Towson.
Five high schools from our region were among 53 schools that earned the NSCAA Team Academic Award for exemplary performance in the classroom for both boys' and girls' teams during the 2007-08 academic year.
D.C. United front office receives numerous 2008 Executive Awards from Major League Soccer.
The Richmond Kickers collected three awards at this year's United Soccer Leagues Annual General Meeting in Tampa, Florida including the USL Second Division Fair Play Award, Communications Award and Key Grip Award.

The Richmond Kickers will kick off their inaugural PASL campaign with an Indoor Thanksgiving Shootout at the Fredericksburg Field House on Saturday, and at the Sports Center of Richmond (SCOR) on Sunday at 3:00 pm.

OMG! What a Goal: Once again, I have to open this with another "are you kidding me?". Many many thanks to Steven Goff for posting this
goal on his Soccer Insider blog today on the WashingtonPost.com. You
have to look VERY closely to see the 3rd goal's spectacular technique
when it runs in real time, but the replays reveal something that takes
as much skill as anything you'll ever see in any sport. PS, the 2nd goal is this match is pretty OMG worthy too, with the crowd reaction that sends chills through your spine (imagine what is must have been like in person).
