Hampden-Sydney freshman midfielder Bryan Wharton (Glen Allen, VA/Deep Run) recently earned ODAC Player of the Week honors for his strong play in the Tigers' 3-1 victory over Stevenson University and 7-0 victory over Emory and Henry College.
The No. 2 ranked Maryland Terrapins gave the AU men's soccer team all it could handle Tuesday night at Ludwig Field in College Park, Md., handing the Eagles a 4-0 loss. The match was a final tune-up for AU before the start of the Patriot League season.
The Cavaliers posted their second-straight shutout with a 4-0 victory over visiting Central Connecticut State Tuesday night at Klöckner Stadium. Virginia travels to Blacksburg, Va. to meet ACC and in-state rival, Virginia Tech, on Friday night.
The William and Mary men's team remained unbeaten with a thrilling 3-2 double-overtime victory over Campbell on Tuesday night. Price Thomas (Charlottesville, Va./Albemarle) scored the game-winner two minutes into the second OT period after Nathan Belcher (Bluefield, Va./Graham) forced extra time with three minutes remaining.
The George Mason men's team posted its third consecutive shutout, defeating Saint Joseph's by a final score of 2-0 Wednesday evening at George Mason Stadium to improve its record to 4-2-1 on the season.
Giovanni Peralta (Lorton, Va./Robert E. Lee) scored the Longwood Lancers' first goal of the evening and freshman Kevin Chico (Harrisonburg, Va./Eastern Mennonite) scored the winning goal to propel Longwood's men's team to a 2-1 overtime victory over Richmond on Wednesday.
Freshman forward Andrew Bulls (Millersville, Md./McDonogh) continued his torrid scoring and sophomore midfielder Dustin Dzwonkowski (Baltimore, Md./Archbishop Curley) added a key insurance marker as host UMBC held off Mount St. Mary's 2-1 at UMBC Soccer Stadium.
The George Washington women's team defeated cross-town rival American University 1-0 Tuesday. Senior Kerry Philbin (Herndon, Va./Bishop Denis O'Connell) scored the game-winning goal for the Colonials in the 86th minute. GW freshman goalie Lindsey Rowe (Richmond, Va./Godwin) posted her second shutout this season saving all nine shots she faced.
In their Big South Conference opener against Liberty, the Keydets scored their first-ever win over the Liberty Lady Flames (third in the Big South's preseason rankings) with a 2-0 victory on Wednesday afternoon.
Broadneck boys' soccer created a 4-1 victory over the Glen Burnie Gophers on Tuesday at Knight Stadium. Both teams entered the game with matching 4-0 county records, but Broadneck was the team that came out on fire.
Senior Taylor Brummitt accounted for two goals and two assists, while Giovanni Menjivar added two goals and an assist as Annapolis blanked North County, 8-0, on Tuesday in boys' high school soccer.
Archbishop Keough Knights of Columbus Council No. 5263 held its 14th Annual Soccer Kick, Shoot, Throw, competition at the Arundel Middle School last weekend. This year's winners, by age bracket, are Ava Schultz (6 and under), Jennifer O'Brien (7-8), Matthew O'Brien (9-10), and Nick Miaullis (11-12).

In a battle of cross-town rivals, the VMI men's soccer team dropped a hard-fought 2-0 decision to the Washington & Lee Generals Tuesday afternoon at Patchin Field.
The UMBC women's soccer team (1-9-0) dropped its fifth straight match Wednesday evening, falling to Pennsylvania (3-3-1) by a score of 3-0 at Rhodes Field.
Sophomore Maggie Morrison scored her third goal of the season late in the first half to help Archbishop Spalding earn a 1-1 tie with nationally ranked McDonogh in girls' soccer on Tuesday. Junior Kirsten Frank assisted on the goal and sophomore Jocelyn McCoy stopped eight shots for Spalding.

As part of a cultural and coaching exchange sponsored by the U.S. State Department and the Academy for Educational Development, Argentine soccer coaches are in the U.S. to learn how Americans coach girls and women. DC Stoddert coaches Marsha Garcia, Mohan Telfer, Hannah Wenzel, and Kate Samsot conducted practices on Tuesday for their GU13 and GU14 teams while the Argentines observed.

MLS teams now have a record of 0-5-2 in the Champions League tournament, while the "lower division" USL is unbeaten at 5-0-3.
