Former ODU Soccer All-American Edson Elcock ('07) has been named United Soccer League's 1st Division Player of the Week. Elcock helped lead ODU to the 2006 NCAA round of 16, where he scored 11 goals and added six assists.
Eric McClellan, a four-year standout and two-time MVP for the Hokies from 1989-1992 and the school's all-time leader in goals scored and total points, is one of five individuals selected for the Virginia Tech Sports Hall of Fame. The honorees will be inducted at a dinner on Friday, Nov. 21.
George Mason forward Parker Walton (Powhatan, Va. Midlothian) scored the first goal of his career in the 94th minute to lift the George Mason men's soccer team to a 1-0 victory over host American in the final match of the annual D.C. College Cup on Sunday afternoon.
Sophomore Nick Orozco (Moseley, Va. James River) punched in his first career goal in the 88th minute to propel the Tribe to a 2-1 come-from-behind victory in their season-opener against UNC Greensboro Saturday night. Junior Andrew Hoxie (Newport News, Va., Denbigh Baptist) also had a goal and an assist for the Tribe.
Spider Senior Sarah Hilt, a Clover Hill HS alumna, launched a winning penalty kick in the 53rd minute to lift the University of Richmond's women's team to a 1-0 victory over cross-town rival Virginia Commonwealth University on Friday night.
Sophomore defender Samantha Young (Severna Park H.S.) scored the second goal of her college career and the game's only goal to give the Towson Tigers a 1-0 win over Lafayette College on Sunday.
Hannah Carlson and Samantha Phillips of the Beach FC U16 Piranhas were selected to the 2008 US Youth Soccer Region I Olympic Development Program player sub-regional pools. In addition, Samantha attended the U15 National Camp August 21-24th in Carson, Ca.

Youth Soccer Month is a celebration for all of those who participate in soccer.
