Kasey Keller joins MLS: American goalkeeper Kasey Keller has returned home to the Pacific Northwest to finish his professional soccer career with the Seattle Sounders - who join the league next season. Keller is a four-time World Cup player and one of the first
American goalkeepers to become a regular in the English Premier League.
He was named U.S. Soccer Athlete of the Year three
times (1997, 1999 and 2005).
Goff says Edu to Rangers: Steven Goff's WashingtonPost.com Soccer Insider Blog is reporting that former University of Maryland star and reigning MLS Rookie of the Year Maurice Edu has just been sold to Rangers for around $5 million. No official news stories out yet, but I'm sure we'll find out for sure by our next issue.
Check out the Blogs: I tied my record for blog entries this week (2), but set a record for words written for sure (a lot). The topics are how hope should not be the plan for US Soccer player development, and a really long study on how to calculate youth soccer coaching pay rates. Our other bloggers have been busy as well, so hope you take the time to check them out and offer your feedback.
EPL is Back: Finally, the new English Premier League season begins tomorrow.
