Jim Snodgrass retirement: Darrell Cuenca of the Virginian-Pilot filed this nice story about Jim Snodgrass, the long-time High School coach from Virginia Beach. Snodgrass retired after the Cox High School season this past spring. My favorite line in the story? When asked what he planned to do with retirement, his first priority was moving into a new house. He said "I wanted to move to Colorado and my wife wanted to move to Suffolk, so we compromised and we're moving to Suffolk." Classic!
MLS Players won't get fair share if they win SuperLiga: The MLS Players Association believes MLS is shortchanging the league's participants in the SuperLiga tournament. The MLSPA accuses the league of "unilaterally" determining the players' share will be 15 percent of the $2.5 million purse. MLS, though, had the right to do so under terms of the collective bargaining agreement.
Boca Juniors at the SoccerPlex: Did you know one of the best teams in the world has been in our back yard all week, and will be here a few more days? The famed Boca Juniors have almost 50 players here in pre-season training, and have a lot of their sessions open to the public. The SoccerPlex is booked with a lacrosse tournament of all things this weekend, but Boca will be back Sunday night at 6 pm for another session before leaving town. |
