The Northern Virginia Royals edged local rival Fredericksburg Gunners 2-1 in a physical contest Wednesday night at Wakefield High School.
The Super Y-League U15 Northern Virginia Royals earned a berth in the US Club Soccer National Cup Championship with a 3-0 victory in the final over Coast FC in the Region E National Cup tournament held over July 4-7 in Winston-Salem, NC.
Kyler Sullivan and Shayne Leonard of the U16 Venom collected valuable Championship hardware this past weekend as participants of the 93 Virginia State ODP Boys Team. The 93 team won the Region 1 ODP tournament by beating Massachusetts 5-1 in the finals.
Due to the support of the Richmond community, the Richmond Kickers and Connor's Heroes were able to raise over $25,000 to benefit the Jamie Hess Bone Marrow Transplant Research Fund at VCU's Massey Cancer Center through the combined events of the Anthem Quest for the Cure and the sixth annual Jamie Hess Night on June 21st.

All eight placement matches in Finals for U.S. Soccer's inaugural Development Academy season will be broadcast on ESPN Networks in an unprecedented 20 hours of coverage over two days, July 18 and 19.
Prince William Soccer has partnered with Nike and SPARQ to enhance training for club players. All athletes from the Prince William Soccer (U15-U18) Select teams will be tested this week and each athlete's test results and subsequent SPARQ Soccer Rating will serve as the foundation for a comprehensive individual program to focus training and track progress and improvement over time.
The Maryland Futsalers, a futsal team of high school players from throughout Anne Arundel County, will play in the national futsal championship tournament at the Baltimore Convention Center, Thursday through Sunday this weekend.
The USASA Region I U23 Cup will take place on the weekend of July 12-13, 2008 at the Ukrainian American Sports Center (Horsham, PA) and the United German Hungarian Club (Oakford, PA). Ambassadors FC (MD), Baltimore Bays 89 (MD), and Bethesda SC (MD) are part of the competition.
