---- Boasts ----
Freestate Soccer Alliance of Bowie, Maryland has announced their recent acceptance as the only youth soccer club in Maryland into the prestigious Red Bull National Girls League (RBNGL).
The Richmond Kickers downed the Bermuda Hogges 4-1, despite a one-hour lightning delay midway through Saturday's match at the University of Richmond Stadium.
Zach Wenger, Baltimore Bays' U-16 Academy League Team, recently attended the U17 Men's National Team training camp and leaves soon for St. Louis, MO for a week of training with the U15 National Team.
---- Notes ----
The Northern Virginia Royals and Northern Virginia Majestics Super Y-League teams finished the first day of competition in the 2008 season with a combined Super Y-League tally of 6-0-3, scoring a total of 26 goals and allowing only seven against.
Osbourn Park graduate Kim Bonilla plans to commit to George Mason University's team after spending a year at Northern Virginia Community College. A first-team all-Cedar Run District and second-team all-Northwest Region forward this season, Bonilla finished with eight goals and five assists.
Fredericksburg Lady Gunners fell 2-1 to Connecticut Passion over the weekend in Connecticut.
Real Maryland dropped a 4-0 contest Saturday night in Harrisburg to the City Islanders. Fatigue was clearly an issue for many Monarch players after an overtime game the night before in the Lamar Hunt US Open Cup.
Fredericksburg Gunners were disarmed 5-0 by the Reading Rage on Friday the 13th.
The Northern Virginia Majestics earned another 1-1 draw on the road, tying the Washington Freedom 1-1 at the Maryland SoccerPlex Sunday night. Washington youngster Tiffany McCarty finally got the Freedom on the board in the final five minutes of the match.
Results of the Mid-Atlantic Cup at the Maryland SoccerPlex this past weekend are posted.
Don Allen has resigned his position as Woodbridge's head boys' soccer coach after four years and two straight Northwest Region Tournament appearances.

Santino Quaranta - "I Should Have Been Dead:" Steven Goff of the Washington Post has published a sensational behind the scenes story on just what happened to Santino Quaranta since his early stardom at D.C. United earlier this decade. The title? "Drug Addiction Nearly Cost United's Quaranta His Career, and More"
Crazy Sideline Parents Studied: The study, carried out by sports psychologists Jay Goldstein and Seppo Iso-Ahola at the University of Maryland, surveyed 340 parents before and after soccer games in which their children participated. The researchers found that level of rudeness and rowdiness depends mostly on parents' personality types.
Local soccer helping in Iraq: Some Fairfax County soccer players and their parents are partnering with U.S. diplomats to build a network of soccer fields and organize a youth league modeled after those in the United States.
D.C. United Frenzied Fan Guidelines: Great Dan Steinberg article on how to fit in with the "loud side" at RFK Stadium. Try it, you'll like it - I promise! Even if your seats are somewhere else, have a walk over there for at least half the game and slowly but surely you'll never want to sit (stand) anywhere else.
