> Ali Krieger earned her way to the U.S. Women's National Soccer Team
Newest Women's National team member and former Prince William youth player Ali Krieger considers herself very lucky. Not that luck is the reason she has been chosen for her first full women's national team roster, but lucky that she had such a great experience as a youth player for the PWSI Sparklers. After a successful college career at Penn State, a potentially fatal medical condition, a stellar Nordic Cup with the U-21 team, and a new job as a professional player in Germany, Ali will debut with the full National Team in China this week. She was interview by Potomac Soccer Wire for this original article by Chris Hummer. [more +]

Baltimore is now in seventh place - three and a half games behind league-leading Detroit (10-4) and Milwaukee (10-4). They play again Friday at home against Monterrey (5-9). [more +]

---- Editor's Corner ---- More Ali Krieger: USSoccer.com beat us to a profile on Prince William's Ali Krieger, but it's actually a great accompaniment to our full story in today's issue.
Churchill's Nowa Thiam: Very cool story on Nowa Thiam Potomac's (Churchill High School and Bethesda for Club) went from showing up to a tryout in jeans and sneakers to playing for Ohio State in the national semifinals within the span just three years.
NSCAA Convention: For those that don't know, the NSCAA convention opens tomorrow in Baltimore. It is the largest soccer-specific conference and tradeshow in the US all year, and the shinning star for the National Soccer Coaches Association of America. Washington Freedom Director of Operations, Louise Waxler was President of the association last year, and will be involved in several major events within the show. The 2008 MLS Superdraft is also being staged from the conference Friday. We'll have reporters there, and hopefully make a lot of new contacts in the soccer biz. If you coach soccer, you should really be a member of the NSCAA. The semi-monthly subscription to Soccer Journal is worth the membership fee alone.
