D.C. United midfielder Josh Gros, a starter most of his four MLS seasons, will not play this year after suffering three head injuries in 2007. United had anticipated Gros's decision and began planning for this season without him. The 25 year old has left open the possibility of a comeback in 2009 or beyond, but since the end of the season, accepted a job at an engineering firm.

> Royals and Majestics Super Y League Tryouts
The Northern Virginia Royals and Majestics will be running Super Y League tryouts in January. The age groups for the boys and girls teams are U13 - U17,  Visit the website (novafc.org) for times and locations for the 1/6, 1/13, 1/20, and 1/27 tryouts.  All players must have a registration form turned in prior to the first tryout.  Tryouts for Super 20/W-League/PDL teams will also be posted on the website. > Mark Simpson Goalkeeper Camps
Mark Simpson will be conducting weekly Goalkeeper training sessions every Wednesday in January in South Riding, VA. Cost is $40 per session. Sessions are indoors on a gym floor, but with diving matts. It doesn't get any better than Mark Simpson, 3-time MLS Cup winner with D.C. United, as well as their current Goalkeepers Coach. South Riding: Wednesdays in January 5:15-6:30 p.m.

> Travel Training and Conditioning
For U9s through U12s. Boys and girls. Improve soccer skills while staying in shape during this fitness oriented program. Program consists of six, 1.5 hour training sessions for young boys and girls already playing travel soccer. The progam teaches techncial skills for dribbling, passing, receiving, and shooting, but does so with fitness at the core of each activity.
