Maryland advanced to the round of 16 in NCAA Tournament play after 110 frigid minutes Wednesday night. Freshmen GoalKeeper Thorne Holder shivered on the Ludwig Field sideline for most of the match before entering to man the pipes in overtime and eventually win the game in PKs. Regulation and overtime tested the Terrapins' patience. They out shot the Greyhounds 18-5 and had an 8-0 advantage on corner kicks, but only a few opportunities were truly dangerous.

> Real Maryland F.C. Holding Open Tryouts for Professional Team
The newest Second Division professional team of the United Soccer Leagues is holding open tryouts on two Saturdays in November and December. The team is coached by Silvino Gonzalo, who recently left Northern Virginia Royals after 10 years to take the reins. Tryouts are open to any player who believes they have what it takes to be a professional. Tryouts will be held December 22, which has a registration deadline of December 14. STBW is offering Futsal Training and striker training sessions this winter. Futsal is a form of indoor soccer that requires quickness, vision and excellent ball skills. Mark Simpson will be conducting two separate five-week Goalkeeper camps this winter in Northern Virginia. Classes will be held in both South Riding and Sterling. It doesn't get any better than Mark Simpson, 3-time MLS Cup winner with D.C. United, as well as their current Goalkeepers Coach. Mark is quite simply one of the best goalkeeper coaches in the USA, at the top of his game. This is a can't miss for any aspiring Keeper.

Yes, that Ricky Ervins - Super Bowl Champion veteran of the Washington Redskins. Ricky has teamed up with Terry Foley Soccer School to tailor speed, strength, agility, and conditioning programs specifically for soccer. His 10-week program can make a difference in any players game. Sterling classes have already begun, but can be pro-rated.
