---- Editor's Corner ----

Election Day: Just a reminder it's Election Day today. Go make a difference!

Champions League: What's better than Election Day? How about a full slate of Champions League action from Europe! Check out the full schedule, as well as the omnipresent daily soccer on TV schedule on our home page.

Boring MLS playoffs: Loving Ian Plenderleith again! With D.C. and Chivas out of the MLS playoffs, there won't be much chance at seeing any barnburners in the remaining three games this season. It's hard to blame the coaches, but this is a huge reason why the league needs more dynamic, aggressive, attacking talent. It's too easy to "go defensive" and force 1:0 games in MLS today, but when we get more attacking talent and speed, bunkering just won't be enough.

Traveling fans subsidized: So, Bobby Convey and his teammates at Reading in the EPL are personally shelling out almost $10K for their next away game to help supporters buy bus tickets. Very NICE! Now, tell me again why MLS teams don't take the lead to organize bus trips for fans to see away games? D.C. United is blessed with the best organized fan groups in the country, and they do a fine job at making it easy for fans to travel to away games. But why doesn't the team do the leg work to organize this sort of thing (Greyhound or Amtrak sponsorship anybody)? At the very least D.C., New York, and New England should each organize and promote discount bus/train passages for their away fans, while Chicago and Columbus could do the same. Houston, Dallas anyone? And certainly LA and San Jose next season. We need to get ready for the day when there are two teams in New York, and a team in Philly! All with their own stadiums, and finally creating some real atmosphere from the visiting end.

Emotional Tank: Check out this refresher on how to fill your players' or childrens' emotional tank. US Youth Soccer has posted a fresh article on the subject, and it's a great reminder of how being positive coach and role model can pay much larger dividends than leading through fear.
