Aegean Hawks FC men's amateur side will represent DC/VA in both the US Open Cup and USASA Amateur Cup this year. The squad, comprised of recently graduated athletes from William & Mary, VCU, George Washington, James Madison, Duke, UMD, UWisc, Syracuse, Brown, Colgate, Northwestern, Old Dominion and UVA varsity squads, will take on New York state winners Greek American Atlas on May 6th, 2 PM @ Catholic University in the US Open Cup - USASA Region 1 match-up. On May 13th, the Hawks take on AC United of Baltimore, MD in the first round of the USASA National Amateur Cup, game time scheduled for 1 PM also at Catholic University. The Richmond Strikers Soccer Club is pleased to announce that David Burch will be joining the club as the Director of the Girls Travel Program. Burch, a Richmond native, comes to the Strikers from the New River United Soccer Association in Blacksburg, VA, where he acted as the Executive Director as well as Director of Coaching. Burch's twenty-two year career has been focused exclusively on coaching women's soccer and his resume includes an impressive list of coaching positions both at the college, club and high-school level. He will attend the May tryouts for the Strikers, and will begin full-time with the club beginning June 1, 2007.

The OGBC U13 Flames and U13 Rangers have both advanced to MD State Cup Semi-Finals. The Flames rallied from one goal down to beat the Freestate Bravehearts 4-1 in state cup play. In round three, the Flames beat the Azul Real 1-0 in double overtime to advance to the state cup semi-final. The Rangers posted a solid victory over the Greene Turtle Soccer Club 4-0. In round three, the Rangers beat the Potomac Real 1-0 to advance to the state cup semi-finals.

Washington Freedom are holding a free Sports Nutrition Seminar for Girls, May 15, 6:30-7:30 pm at Whole Foods Kentlands in Gaithersburg. (316 Kentlands Blvd.). The Virginia Tech women's soccer team will play host to the University of Virginia, Friday, at the Virginia Tech Soccer Stadium. The Cavaliers volunteered to travel to Blacksburg after the Hokies' final scrimmage of the spring season was cancelled due to last week's tragedy. The match will kick off at 6 p.m., and at halftime there will be a presentation of thanks for the help Virginia has provided throughout the past week.
MSYSA will hold a FREE "G" coaching course on Sunday, May 6, from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm at Kenwood High School in Essex, MD ( Baltimore County). The "G" license course is an introductory step to help parents and new coaches help their children and players enjoy the great game of soccer. "G" stands for Games, Goals and Glee. The course is open to all parents and new youth soccer coaches, regardless of whether they are affiliated with an MSYSA member organization.
