> Baltimore Bays Lose in Detroit
The Baltimore Blast lost, 15-4, Saturday night in Detroit. Denison Cabral scored both Blast goals, one a shootout goal and the other a penalty kick goal. The Blast will finish 2006 with another road game, December 30th in Chicago, before returning to 1st Mariner Arena on January 6th to host Detroit.

> Crystal Palace Baltimore Standout To Captain U15 National Team
The new professional soccer franchise and youth academy in suburban Baltimore already has a star. Zak Wenger has only been playing soccer for six years and just recently he was named Captain of the Men’s U15 National team. He will travel with the national team to Mexico in January to play several top professional clubs such as CD Guadalajara (Chivas) and Atlas. In February, he’ll join three other academy players in London to train with the parent club.

> Super Y-League Sets Mid Atlantic Division Structure
The Super Y-League recently announced the final alignment for the Mid Atlantic division. The flagship division of the Super Y-League welcomes four newcomers, which now boasts 21 of the top clubs in the region. Perhaps the most significant addition is the return of Pennsylvania club powerhouse FC DELCO. Fellow additions include: Lions SC (Bowie, MD), Quickstrike SC (Newburgh, NY), and the complete transfer of D.C. United’s youth system to the Mid Atlantic. D.C. United was formerly part of the Super Y-League’s South Atlantic Division.

> United Continues Its Revamping by Trading Prideaux
D.C. United continued its busy offseason yesterday by trading veteran defender Brandon Prideaux to the Colorado Rapids for third-round draft picks the next two years. Prideaux, 30, spent five seasons with United, averaging 24 starts between 2002 and '05 before making just nine appearances this year, in part because of a knee injury. With limited opportunity to start next season, Prideaux had requested a trade to a team closer to his home in the Seattle area that would give him a chance to play regularly.

U.S. Men’s National Team head coach Bob Bradley has named 29 players to the training camp roster that will begin workouts Jan. 4 at U.S. Soccer's National Training Center at The Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif. The group will prepare for the USA’s first match of 2007, a friendly against Denmark on Jan. 20 at The Home Depot Center. The largely untested group includes 28 players based in the United States, with four-time league champion D.C. United contributing six players to the roster, the most of the ten MLS teams represented.

Simpson selected as next Herndon soccer coach
Robert "Scott" Simpson will man the sideline as the Herndon boys head soccer coach in the spring of 2007. He takes over for John Pascarella, who coached the team for four seasons and led the Hornets to an 8-7-1 record in 2006.

Referee Recertification
Waldorf Soccer announced there will be a referee re-certification class on January 6th, 2007 from 9am until 3pm at Stoddert Middle School. the class is going to be taught by Mike Tretick. If you would like to participate in the class , please send Mike an email at mtkick@aol.com.

Maryland State Cup Applications / Deadline

Congratulations to Kingston Capital, who defeated Wobblers 4:1 for the Fall 2006 Terrill Cup, made up of the top teams from the Washington International Soccer League’s fall season. In the spring, this same competition will include the top four teams from the Washington Premier League, making the competition a true champions league within the DC region.
