Navy Men\'s Soccer Open Season Thursday by Hosting Wofford

Shuttle Info: Shuttles will run from the west side of Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium, beginning at 6:00 pm. The shuttles drop fans off directly in front of the Glenn Warner Soccer Facility.

GAME OVERVIEW
• The Navy men\'s soccer team begins its 90th season of play on Thursday night when it hosts 2009 NCAA Tournament participant and SoCon champion Wofford at 7:00 pm at the Glenn Warner Soccer Facility. It will be the season opener for both teams.

GETTING TO THIS POINT
• Navy prepared for the season with exhibition matches coming against Rider, Loyola (Md.) and Millersville, posting a 1-1-1 record in those three matches.
• Wofford also had three exhibition matches, posting a 1-0-2 record. The Terriers tied with Presbyterian and East Tennessee State, while routing Newberry College.

NAVY IN SEASON OPENERS
• Navy has had modest success recently in season openers, posting a 5-2-3 in openers since the 2000 season. Last year, Navy scored a 3-1 victory over Saint Joseph\'s, as two freshmen (Michael Rakoczy and Seth Stewart) and a sophomore (Wes Powell) scored in the contest.
• Navy\'s last loss in a season opener came in the 2006 season, as No. 19-ranked Virginia Tech defeated the Mids, 3-0, in the opening game of the UMBC / adidas Kick-off Classic.
• Navy is a sizzling 65-13-11 (.792) in its previous 89 season openers.
