Loyola's Wnek named to NCAA Men's Soccer Committee

Loyola University Maryland Assistant Director of Athletics Bill Wnek has been named to the NCAA Division I Men’s Soccer Committee.
 
Wnek, who was a standout student-athlete at Loyola, before moving into the coaching and athletic administration ranks will assume his role on the committee next year.
 
The national committee represents the membership and performs several duties, including the selection of teams to the NCAA College Cup, administration of the championships and other issues regarding the sport.
 
Wnek was named Loyola’s Assistant Director of Athletics for Compliance and Student-Athlete Welfare in 2004 after spending the previous nine years as an assistant men’s soccer at the school.
 
As a student-athlete for the Greyhounds, Wnek lettered in both men’s soccer and tennis. He helped the Loyola men’s soccer team win four consecutive Metro Atlantic Athletic Confernece titles.
 
Wnek was the 1994 MAAC Player of the Year when he scored 14 goals and assisted on eight others, and he earned All-MAAC honors on three occasions. He is in Loyola’s top 20 all-time in scoring with 34 goals, 14 assists and 82 career points for his career.
 
After concluding his soccer career, he moved to the tennis courts where he was the 1996 team Most Valuable Player.
 
Wnek graduated from Loyola in 1995 with a Bachelor of Science in business administration, and he completed his M.B.A. from the school in 1997. As a coach, he helped the Greyhounds win six MAAC regular-season titles and win two tournament titles.
