TSC MD Pride beaten by Adirondack Lynx

19 Jun, 2009

The Pride went into this game full of confidence despite the fact they did not have a recognized GK available for the game. After much hunting around and many phone calls, up stepped Patti Carroll, a NY native, who was ready to stand between the pipes.

After an outstanding opening to the game where the Pride created several dangerous chances and had the Lynx pinned in their own half, the Pride found themselves down a goal after 15 minutes from the Lynx\'s first real foray into Pride territory. A relatively harmless and hopeful looking "kick", sailed over the GK\'s head and became a 35 yard goal as it skimmed the underside of the bar.

The Pride then settled down and tried to play their way back into the game, and after some great build-up play, Christy Bush was sprung thru for a one-on-one but the Lynx GK came up with a great save to preserve the Adirondack advantage.

The Pride were then made to pay for several other missed chances when in the 42nd minute, the Lynx showed their creative play and found themselves one-on one, and the Striker buried it low to Carroll\'s right-hand post.

There was still time for the Pride to come up with two more very dangerous chances in the first half, but to no avail.

The second-half started much the same as the first with the Pride knocking on the door, and in the 52nd minute, ANABEL JIMENEZ pulled one back. After some fancy footwork at the top of the penalty area, she pushed the ball past the Defender and rifled in her 4th goal of the season.

The joy soon turned to frustration and anger however, when the Pride defence felt they should have been awarded a free-kick for an obvious off-side against the Lynx, but the Referee allowed the play to go on and the Striker gave the Lynx a 3-1 lead. More heartbreak was to follow when a long throw-in was misjudged and the ball went in off the back of a Lynx player.

Then, late in the game, Drew Smith attacked and cut in from the left, and unleashed a terrific shot that bounced back off the crossbar, but there was CJ ALLEN to settle the ball down and smash home her first goal of the season. After several more near misses, the Pride realized it just wasn\'t going to be their day, and the game was then marred by a couple of yellow cards awarded to Lisa Zanti, who let her frustrations get the better of her.

The Pride play two games this weekend with the first being Saturday at 7pm at home at Western Regional Park against the Lancaster Inferno, and then travel the next day to southern New Jersey for a 7pm game against the AC Diablos whom they tied in their first game.
