Paul VI's Chris Griffith commits to Washington & Jefferson College

7 May, 2009

Paul VI High School men’s soccer player Chris Griffith has verbally committed to play soccer at Washington & Jefferson College in Pennsylvania.

W&J Head Coach Ian Mcdonald on Griffith:

“It is much excitement and anticipation that we welcome Christian Griffith to our soccer family here at Washington & Jefferson College. Through our face to face meeting and numerous conversations, plus video analysis, we believe Christian possesses the talent and character to be a great addition to our program and the college community as a whole. Christian is not only a gifted athlete, but is also very gifted academically. I look forward to a very productive four years with this young man.”

Chris was a key member of the Panthers this season, he played in a variety of roles in the midfield and in the back.  He was one of 12 seniors who helped lead the team to one of their most successful seasons in program history.

“I wish Chris all the best in his future endeavors,” said Paul VI Head Coach Matt Leiva.  “He is a strong student-athlete as well as a very mature young man and I am sure he will succeed at Washington & Jefferson College both on the field and off.”

The Panthers will begin preseason in mid-August as their new squad begins to form.  The new team will have a lot to live up to in the Fall of 2009.
