Chelsea FC ladies join Richmond Kickers Destiny
15 May, 2008The Richmond Kickers Destiny have announced the return of Chelsea Ladies FC defender Kylie Davies, and welcome newcomers Emma Delves, Dunia Susi and Jess O’Dwyer, all pending USL/USSF approval.
“We look forward to continuing our relationship with Chelsea Ladies Football Club” comments Jesse Myers, Richmond Kickers Destiny Head Coach. “This season, we are adding four girls who will not only bring ability but international experience to our team.”
Davies returns to Richmond after making five appearances with the Destiny last season, splitting time with the U-23 England National Team. A highly regarded England youth international at the U-17, U-19 and U-23 level, Davies was an integral part of England’s 2007 Nordic Cup team last summer. She was also a member of the 2007 Great Britain University Games squad that finished sixth overall in Bangkok, Thailand. The 22-year old defender signed with Chelsea from Fulham prior to the 2006 season.
Davies’ teammate on the U-23 England 2007 Nordic Cup team, Dunia Susi makes her way to Richmond this season. The 5’7” forward with lightning pace attends the University of Westminster and is a native of London, England. Susi’s experience extends to the 2007 Great Britain University Games squad, England’s 2004 U-19 European Championship squad and the Nike Joga Bonito Great Britain Championship squad.
Joining Davies on the backline, Emma Delves is a versatile defender who has seen time in the midfield as well. With the Chelsea Ladies for over three seasons, Delves secured a position on the starting lineup last year.
The Chelsea Ladies FC are an English women’s soccer club affiliated with English Premiership team Chelsea FC. They are currently in the top flight of women’s soccer in England, the Premier League, having won promotion as champions from the Southern Division in 2004-05.
The Destiny open their fifth season in the W-League this Sunday, May 18th at 6:00 pm at First Market Stadium, on the campus of the University of Richmond.
