Wilson returning to Battery after three seasons with D.C. United

After signing with D.C. United in May of 2005 and appearing in over 30 games for the Black and Red, physical defender John Wilson has returned to South Carolina, the place his professional soccer career began. Wilson and the Charleston Battery of USL-1 have agreed to terms for the upcoming season. A native of Seneca, SC, the 30-year old Wilson struggled to return to form for United after a 2007 season filled with injuries, and was waived by the MLS Club in June of last year. Prior to turning pro, Wilson was a four-year starter at Clemson University, scoring 18 goals with 27 assists in 80 games played.
