UMBC Freshmen Chris Williams is Rookie of the Week

UMBC freshman fullback Chris Williams (Baltimore, Md./Calvert Hall) was
named America East Conference Men’s Soccer Rookie of the Week for the
week ending Oct. 20. He is the second Retriever to receive the award in
the last three weeks, as forward B.J. Quigley was honored on Oct. 8.

As a freshman, Williams has started all 14 games on the UMBC back line
and the Retrievers have posted nine shutouts to date. On Saturday vs.
Albany, he added offense as he scored the game-winning goal in the 22^nd
minute in a 2-0 win over Albany. Williams’ first career goal was scored
on a header off Bryan Moffa’s corner kick. The six-foot-four Williams
and his teammates did not allow a goal in 200 minutes of action last week.
