Amway Global not yet committed to FC Gold Pride sponsorship

Potomac Soccer Wire has confirmed Amway Global’s sponsorship deal with the LA Sol does not automatically follow Marta to her new team FC Gold Pride. In an internal announcment dated January 30th, and obtained by PSW, the leading health, beauty and home care products company said:

"In 2009, Amway Global was a jersey sponsor for the Women’s Professional Soccer (WPS) LA Sol team and also entered an endorsement agreement with the team\'s star player, Marta.

"During the off-season, LA Sol team was up for sale. Negotiations with the potential new buyer were recently discontinued. As a result, the LA Sol team has folded. Marta will go to another team that has yet to be announced.

"Amway Global is grateful for the relationship we had with the LA Sol and Marta in 2009. Options are being considered whether or not we continue our relationship with another team."

While the company is considering whether to continue a team sponsorship in WPS, their direct deal with Marta is assumed to be intact, as their deal with her was a separate three-year agreement announced and contracted separately from their LA Sol commitment, which terminated when the team folded last month.
