Substitutes lead D.C. United past Barons 2-0 for U.S. Open Cup victory

They made it mightily hard on themselves, but D.C. United did just enough to advance past the Ocean City Barons in their third-round U.S. Open Cup match at the Maryland SoccerPlex on Tuesday night, with a 2-0 victory.

Despite residing three tiers below United on the U.S. soccer hierarchy, the amateur side from the Jersey shore offered staunch resistance and were only undone by a 74th-minute Christian Gomez penalty kick and a late, late clincher from Ange N'Silu.
