Jaime Moreno completes succesful knee surgery

6 Nov, 2008
D.C. United forward Jaime Moreno underwent successful knee surgery Tuesday. Team physician Dr. Chris Annunziata performed arthroscopic surgery at Virginia Hospital Center to clean the articular cartilage and remove a meniscal defect.  Moreno will be ready for full participation in time for pre-season next year.

Moreno is Major League Soccer’s all-time leading goal-scorer with 122 career goals and is a single assist from becoming the first-ever member of the 100 goals-100 assists club.  He collected his 99th assist in United’s 2-1 win over the New England Revolution on Oct. 16.  With ten goals and ten assists during the 2008 season, United’s captain has achieved ten-plus goals and ten-plus assists for the fourth season in his career.  Only retired forward Jason Kreis has matched the feat and no other player in MLS history has achieved a ‘10 and 10’ season more than twice in a career.
