Real Maryland hire Hudson as new head coach

28 Oct, 2008
Real Maryland FC, a member of the United Soccer Leagues Second Division has announced the signing of Anthony Hudson as the club’s new Head Coach & Director of Academy Programs.

Hudson joins the club from the Wilmington Hammerheads, where he has served as Assistant Head Coach.

''I am extremely excited by this opportunity. I've met with the Owners and the General Manager and it is clear to me that Real Maryland is heading in the right direction. It’s a fantastic challenge. I'm eager to get up there to start preparing for the 2009 Season,” Hudson commented after his hiring.

Hudson started his playing career at West Ham United under Tony Carr and Harry Redknapp. He signed as a YTS and played for a successful Academy Team which had seen players such as Michael Carrick and Joe Cole. Hudson later played at Luton Town FC under manager Lenny Lawrence before moving on to Holland where he signed with Dutch 1st Division team NEC Nijmegen.

He has coached at all levels ranging from the Youth Level up through to the Professional Ranks. Since moving into coaching he has obtained several licenses including the UEFA “A” License, which made Hudson one of the youngest coaches to have achieved the prestigious award from the English Football Association.

“Anthony has a bright future,” said owner Victor Moran. “We know he will do well here at Real Maryland FC in leading the team in a positive direction.”

In addition to speaking at the world’s largest gathering of soccer coaches – The NSCAA 2008 National Coaches Convention, Hudson also holds the USSF “B” License and the Free Flow License.
