CONCACAF Champions League kicks off for MLS teams today

The inaugural CONCACAF Champions League makes its long anticipated debut this week with eight Preliminary Round first legs. New England and Chivas USA both have away matches in Trinidad and Panama respectively. The second legs will be played next week, with the survivors advancing to group play starting Sept. 16, where D.C. United and Houston await to join the festivities.

The first three match days (August 26-28) in this brand new competition will feature club teams from 13 different nations and territories within the Confederation; Belize, Canada, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Jamaica, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico (2), Nicaragua, Panama (2), Puerto Rico, Trinidad & Tobago and USA (2).
