Real Maryland makes history with first ever victory in USL-2

Real Maryland recorded its first-ever victory in USL-2 with a 2-0 win over the Pittsburgh Riverhounds in front of a raucous crowd of 1,800 at the Maryland SoccerPlex Saturday in a slightly shortened affair due to lightning.

Monarchs William Brindley and former Major League Soccer and El Salvadoran international Ronald Cerritos scored the first and second goals in Real Maryland history in the first half. In the second  half, Cerritos was ejected for second caution, but Real wasn’t forced to play out the game a man down as lightning in the 89th minute caused officials to whistle the game a minute before full time. Real Maryland is back in action next Saturday when it travels to Western Mass for a re-match with the Pioneers.
