D.C. United continue MLS slump with home loss

18 Apr, 2008

D.C. United lost at home in MLS play for the first time this season with a 2-1 results against the Columbus Crew. It was the first time back at RFK for former United stand-out Brian Carroll, who also has two younger brothers on the D.C. United roster. Columbus took the lead on an Alejandro Moreno's close range strike, but D.C. answered back through Brian Namoff's deflected short-range blast. But with celebrations still going on in the stands, Columbus answered right back, again with Alejandro Moreno the finisher - although the goal was ruled an own goal by the struggling Gonzalo Peralta. Argentinean legend Guillermo Barros Schelotto put in an impressive performance for Columbus, as did United's own Argentinean star Marcelo Gallardo. The game was broadcast live to Argentian over ESPN International.
