Egypt wins African Cup of Nations 1-0 over Cameroon
10 Feb, 2008With a 1-0 victory over Cameroon, Egypt has repeated as champions of the African Cup after dominating the semi-annual tournament with consistently strong performances, including a 4-1 semi-final victory over an impressive Ivory Coast with resident assassin Didier Drogba. In all, 16 teams competed, with four groups of four seeing their first and second place finishers to the quarterfinals. Both tournament finalists came from the group, and had faced each other in their openers, where Egypt won 4-2. This is Egypt's sixth time as champions of Africa. Host Ghana also had an impressive tournament, making it to the semi-finals, and then defeating Ivory Coast 4-2 on Saturday for 3rd place.
