CONCACAF Champions League launched

In an attempt to create a single world class competition to determine the best pro teams in North America, Central America, and the Caribbean, the reginoal body - CONCACAF - announced the CONCACAF Champions League. The inagrual competition will commence in August 2008 with eight "seeded" clubs - including D.C. United and Houston Dynamo - and 16 others. The CONCACAF Champions League will replace the Champions’ Cup which will cease to exist after the 2008 edition, but for now, both United and the Dynamo will compete in both.
