United likely signing Argentine striker this week

According to several news reports, D.C. United is in the late stages of negotiations to acquire Argentine forward Franco Niell. Niell, 24, has spent his entire career with Argentinos Juniors, a first division club from Buenos Aires Argentina. The club is renowned for developing young talent. He has been on the team's senior roster since 2004, and has accumulated 10 career goals in 60 league appearances. Besides his quickness and skill, Niell stands out on the soccer field because he stands just 5-foot, 4-inches. But he’s a sold 145 pounds and has proven he can hold his own in one of the world’s most physical leagues.
