Real Salt Lake's Jean Alexandre retroactively suspended for studs-up challenge on D.C. United's Jed Zayner

22 Jun, 2011

On Tuesday evening the Major League Soccer Disciplinary Committee suspended Real Salt Lake midfielder Jean Alexandre for one game and fined him $500 for an egregious and reckless tackle on defender Jed Zayner that endangered the safety of his opponent in the 49th minute of the match against D.C. United on June 18, 2011.

Alexandre will be suspended for Real Salt Lake’s match against the Chicago Fire on Wednesday night.

Fines collected are donated to MLS W.O.R.K.S., Major League Soccer's community outreach initiative dedicated to addressing important social issues affecting young people and serves as a platform for both League and club philanthropic programs. MLS W.O.R.K.S. seeks to establish Major League Soccer as a leader for improving the lives of people through sport.
