Chivas narrowly defeats D.C. United, 1-0, at the Home Depot Center
30 Aug, 2010Chivas USA striker Justin Braun got his eighth goal of the season to give his club a 1-0 lead and barely scrape by D.C. United at the Home Depot Center Sunday night.
United (4-15-3) had several close opportunities in the game, including an unlucky bounce for Santino Quaranta, who drilled a shot from 25 yards out that bounced first off the crossbar, off Chivas GK Zach Thornton\'s leg and out of bounds.
Black-and-Red legend Jaime Moreno also had the potential equalizer after a header on a United corner kick. Chivas GK Mariano Trujillo cleared the ball off the line at the last second, denying the league\'s all-time leading scorer his 133rd goal.
