Tir Na Nog Mundo FC wins MMSL's Bernie Reif Cup

13 Dec, 2009

In a steady and cold rain at Meadowood Regional Park in Baltimore County, Tir Na Nog Mundo FC defeated the Select FC Magicians by a score of 4-2 to win the Maryland Major Soccer League\'s Bernie Reif Cup.

Select FC jumped on the board first in the 35th minute, but Mundo equalized shortly before halftime.  Mid way through the second half, Mundo found some gaps in the Select FC defense to 3 goals on the board in a ten minute span to take a 4-1 lead.  For the final fifteen minutes, Select FC applied steady pressure on the Mundo goal finding the goal once, hitting the post, and having one shot cleared off the line.

Despite a difficult MMSL Champions League campaign, Mundo regrouped to defeat Champions League sides Hangover United and Select FC along with MMSL 1st Division side Maryland FC Red Stars to claim the 2009 MMSL Bernie Reif Cup.
