ABGC Conquistadores, Mall Rats win Coed Cups in Dallas
26 Oct, 2009The best of adult coed soccer in the U.S. was present at the 2009 USASA Coed Cup Nationals for a soccer fun filled weekend in Dallas/Plano, Texas.
The annual championship, being held at Russell Creek Park, welcomed thirty-three teams in 4 divisions; Open 1st, 2nd, 3rd and Over 30. Participating teams came from numerous USASA state associations across the country to play three matches (round robin), with the most-point teams advancing to semifinals and finals.
The North Texas Soccer Association hosted the Coed Cup for the second year in a row.
In Open 1st Division play, ABGC Conquistadores (Virginia) captured the title with a 4-1 tally over CO Sporting Blues (Colorado). Conquistadores won 4-3 over Dallas Roma (North Texas) in semifinals.
Fox Sports (North Texas) are the 2009 2nd Division Coed National Champions after defeating Shamewalkers (North Texas), 5-2. Fox Sports defeated The Zoo (Texas-South), 2-0 in semifinal play.
CC Blitz (Texas-South) blanked Family Jewels (Texas-South) 3-0 to win the 3rd Division Championship. CC Blitz played a tough and long game against L is For Peanuts (New Mexico) in semifinals. The game went over time and then penalty kicks.
The Over 30 Division Cup went to Mall Rats (DC/Virginia) after winning 2-1 over Mach 1 (Texas-South). Mall Rats beat Torso Steelers (Texas-South), 5-2 in semifinals.
