Maryland Major Soccer League kicks off fourty-sixth year of adult soccer competition

22 Aug, 2010

On August 15, 2010, the Maryland Major Soccer League (MMSL) kicked off its 46th year of competitive soccer, with team in three divisions chasing championships.

In the Champions League division, the Maryland Bays (formerly Baltimore Bays Chelsea) look to defend their title and will have to stave off fierce competition from traditionally strong sides Christos FC, Charm City FC, and FC Allyance.

2009 Reif Cup champion Mundo FC will look to rebound after a poor 2009 regular season and Rosedale Magic (formerly Select FC) will look to start the season strong after 2009\'s strong finish.

Newly promoted Champions League sides from the MMSL 1st Division will also look to make their mark in the Baltimore Kickers and JA Raiders. These two clubs are two of the oldest in the league.

The Kickers have been in existence for the entire 46 year history of the MMSL and won the championship in 1970, 1980 and 1997.

The JA Raiders have been a part of the MMSL for more than 25 years.

Both clubs return to the Champions League after a few years in the 1st Division rebuilding.

The Maryland Major Soccer League, Inc. (MMSL), is a premier amateur adult soccer league in the State of Maryland, and a member of the Maryland State Soccer Association, United States Adult Soccer Association (USASA), United States Soccer Federation (USSF), and the Federation International Football Association (FIFA).
