Interview with Werner Fricker Jr., USASA `s Chair of the National Cup Committee: “People become more educated on Soccer”

Your first impressions after these finals…
The competition was very good. All these teams have been playing all the year at state level, at region level and now at national level. And we have seen talented teams. Referees also did well. We had great finals.

We know that the practice of soccer is growing but could you specify to what extent?
There is been so much awareness. Soccer is being televised 24 hours, 7 days. People become more educated. The sport is growing at the youth level and you see thousands of kids interested and playing.

You`ve been watching all the games today. Any player or team that impressed you most?
The Pancyprians. They play really nice soccer. I\'m not sure but they may have won five cups recently.

Do you have any favorite team at the international level or in the MLS?
Bayern München

Do you have any favorite player?
I can`t specify, I watch the whole game.

What are the challenges the USASA is facing today?
We\'re a growing organization and we have programs for kids, women, veterans and it is difficult to satisfy everybody. But we work on it.

What`s next on your agenda?
We`re done with this competition. And we get ready for next season which will start in September – October.
