W&M women announce 2010 recruiting class
4 Feb, 2010William and Mary Tribe women’s soccer head coach John Daly announced the College’s 2010 recruiting class on Thursday. The five-player class boasts two locals players in Audrey Barry (Fairfax Station, Va./Robinson) and Ali Heck (Fairfax, Va./Robinson).
Following is the list of the Green and Gold’s recruiting class, as well as a quote on the player from Coach Daly.
Audrey Barry
Fairfax Station, Va. – Robinson
“Audrey is an outstanding wide front player with exceptional speed and athleticism. She has been an integral part of the Robinson High School team, which won the state championship in 2008. Audrey plays for the Vista Shockwave Club and is also an outstanding track athlete.”
Tara Connors
Dallas, Penn. – Dallas
“Tara is a tough, athletic defender with the successful Hershey Attack team. Tara will bring a combative, defensive demeanor to the Tribe back line.”
Ali Heck
Fairfax, Va. – Robinson
“Ali is mobile defender who can play in the middle of the back line and on the outside. She has been a standout defender for both the Robinson High School team and the Vista Shockwave club team, along with teammate Audrey Barry.”
Dani Rutter
York, Penn. – Central York
“Dani is a mobile front runner who can play down the middle or on the outside. A teammate of Tara Connors on the Hershey Attack, Dani has also played for the Region team for three years and attended Under-14 national camp.”
Samantha Trail
Granger, Ind. – Penn
“Samantha is an accomplished left-sided defender/midfielder with the Northern Indiana Soccer Club.”
In 2010, the William and Mary Tribe women’s soccer team will return 24 players from the 2009 squad that finished the season 12-7, marking the 28th-consecutive winning season for the College, an NCAA record. Last season, the Tribe also tallied its fourth-consecutive year with 12 or more victories.
