NSCAA board of Directors choose Baltimore for 2016 and 2020 conventions

14 Jan, 2010

By Chris Hummer

(Philadelphia, PA) - Potomac Soccer Wire has learned that the National Soccer Coaches Association of America board has voted to hold their annual convention in Baltimore, Maryland in 2016 and 2020. Baltimore is already the host for next year\'s convention, the largest soccer convention in the United States, put on by the largest coaching organization of any sport anywhere in the world.

This year\'s convention just got underway Wednesday in Philadelphia at the Pennsylvania Convention Center in downtown Philadelphia. Coaches or other soccer "people" can still attend on a weekend only pass for $99, which comes with a half-year membership to the NSCAA.

The convention boasts a smorgasbord of all things soccer - especially for coaches. It includes education classes, presentations, live coaching session demonstrations, and a massive trade show all in the enormous caverns of the convention center. Coaches travel from all over the world to learn, socialize, and keep up with continuing education credits for licensing.

Both Major League Soccer and the Women\'s Professional Soccer leagues hold their annual player drafts in conjuncture with the show, including live first round coverage of the MLS draft on ESPN2. This year, the "home" team, Philadelphia Independence selected Danny Mwanga with the first overall pick. The humble 6\'2" Forward from Oregon State University and the Democratic Republic of Congo told thousands of fans, media, and coaches this was the best day of his life.
